How to Manage Employee Attendance in the New Normal?

Employees have started returning to work in the office after months of working from home (WFH) due to COVID-19. Now, there are a lot of considerations and regulations that need to be considered to adapt well to the New Normal. Thus, employers are now responsible for making sure employees will be able to return to work while having the best amount of productivity whilst also ensuring that proper safety measures are taken in the office as part of the New Normal.

Creating a Safe Space

Being in an office, it is necessary to create a safe space for employees by ensuring that everything is sanitised properly. This also means that everyone that walks into the building needs to be in good health. In order to do so, temperature checks need to be done for every person before they are allowed to enter the premises. Aside from temperature checks, every employee is required to wear masks in order to prevent the spread of any germs/virus droplets when they cough or sneeze. They also need to frequently wash their hands or use hand sanitizers when needed, especially before having a meal.

Adopting a New Company Culture

Although employees are starting to return to the office, social distancing measures still need to be practiced. In order to collaborate for work, they need to always be talking at a safe distance or where unnecessary, do not need to meet face to face. Similarly, where required they may allow meetings with a limited number of members or done virtually.

Some company cultures focus on presenteeism where employees tend to stay longer in the office to prove that they are working hard. The culture of eating together during lunch time is also problematic as a lot of people are located in a room at a time which makes it difficult to practise social distancing. Presenteeism and overcrowding would not be happening if there are limits to the number of hours employees are allowed to stay overtime. Similarly, overcrowding can also be avoided when the company can track and limit the number of people having lunch breaks at a time.

Latest Innovation with BXTF-19

Since temperature checks are required before entry and attendance needs to be marked, having a thermal face scanner attendance machine is an innovative approach towards the new normal. Therefore, it is important to invest in a BXTF-19, a Biotronix Thermal and Face Scanner that has a temperature scanner, which automatically checks if the person who passed through the scanner is healthy.

It can be connected with Access Control to only allow healthy employees who are wearing masks to enter. Aside from this, it can also recognise employees based on face recognition, for attendance. By doing so, attendance can easily be marked without worrying about any contact between employees, creating proper social distancing. Additionally, it can be integrated with Armada IT’s MAQNA Time Attendance, MANQA ASCent and other MAQNA Software. This includes MAQNA Payroll, where payroll can automatically be adjusted depending on the employee’s attendance.
